Rona and Writing
Dec. 3rd, 2022 01:47 pmSo I saw The Killers in concert, and it was a blast, and then finally got covid. I guess my hermit lifestyle was keeping it away from me until now. I'm almost better now, which my pup, Yuki, is pleased about. She missed our walks.
I've had a very productive last couple of days writing. I want to make a really lofty wordcount goal for 2023 and track it in a spreadsheet. I also want to revisit some novels I previously wrote and then hid away due to lack of confidence. I know I've improved since writing them, so hopefully I don't make myself cringe too hard lmao.
My girlfriend, Mina, and I have been rewatching NBC Hannibal and it is so good. Honestly, I think it's the best TV show I've ever seen. All throughout it I'm just like it's so well written!!! I don't think I could ever write something so finely crafted. A TV show has a whole team of writers, so I shouldn't be too jealous. I'll just try to learn from it.
I have realised that, if an author doesn't classify their novel as erotica, they can get away with so much more taboo content. There are a lot of restrictions on erotica writers. So I'm going to try publishing under romance, adventure, etc, even if there's a lot of sexual content in my stories. Apparently it's also better for sales. I guess it makes sense. Erotica comes with a connotation of not having much of a plot. The best stories have maximum plot and maximum smut lmao.
